FAQs
What does allowing recipients to choose price options mean?
Allowing recipients to choose price options lets customers interact with a QuoteCloud price table and pick from multiple pricing choices you include on a line item. Examples include choosing monthly vs. yearly plans, selecting service tiers, or switching between alternative product bundles so the recipient can configure the quote before approving.
How do I enable price options for recipients in QuoteCloud?
Open the price table editor in your QuoteCloud document, add or edit the line item you want to offer choices for, and create multiple pricing options for that line. Then enable the recipient-selection (or "allow recipient to choose") setting for those line items. Save and publish the document—choices become visible during recipient review so they can select their preferred option.
Can recipients select more than one option?
Yes. Selection behavior is configurable: set an option group to permit a single choice (for mutually exclusive plans) or allow multiple selections (for combinable add-ons or bundled items). Configure each price table row according to whether options should be exclusive or additive.
Does selecting an option update the quote totals automatically?
Yes. When a recipient selects a price option, QuoteCloud recalculates the line totals and the document totals in real time. Overall totals, discounts, and taxes are updated automatically so the quote always reflects the chosen configuration before approval.
How do price options affect discounts, taxes, and subtotal calculations?
Selected options are included in QuoteCloud's calculation engine: chosen prices change line subtotals, which then feed into any line-level or document-level discounts, tax calculations, and shipping or handling rules. Taxes and totals are recalculated immediately when options change. We recommend testing combinations to confirm discount stacking and rounding behave as expected for your account settings.
Why would I use price options in a quote?
Price options make quotes more flexible and interactive, enabling clients to customize purchases and compare alternatives directly in the document. That reduces back-and-forth, accelerates decision-making and approvals, and improves the buyer experience. For teams using sales quoting software or sales proposal software, interactive options can increase conversions and shorten sales cycles.
What are best practices for designing price options to improve conversions?
Keep options clear and limited, label each option with benefits and pricing terms (e.g., monthly vs. yearly), highlight recommended or most-popular choices, and separate mutually exclusive options from add-ons. Show savings or per-unit pricing where relevant, set sensible defaults, and test combinations so totals, discounts, and taxes display correctly. These practices help your quote software or proposal software present choices that are easy for buyers to understand and act on.
Will recipient-selected options work with integrations like QuickBooks Online or invoicing?
Yes — when a recipient finalizes a quote configuration in QuoteCloud, the chosen line items and totals persist with the document. If your account is integrated with QuickBooks Online or other accounting tools, the selected configuration can be converted to an invoice or synced so the final amounts transfer correctly into your bookkeeping system. Always verify the mapped fields during initial integration setup.
