FAQs
What does adding additional columns to a price table in QuoteCloud allow me to do?
Adding additional columns lets you display more product and pricing details directly inside a QuoteCloud price table — for example product codes, SKU or reference fields, discount breakdowns, or client-specific notes. This makes quotes and proposals clearer for clients and helps your team communicate precise pricing when using QuoteCloud as your sales quoting software or sales proposal software.
What types of columns can I add to a price table?
You can add informational columns and pricing-related columns. Informational columns include product codes, SKUs, notes, or reference fields and are display-only. Pricing-related columns cover discounts, markups, custom cost fields and can be configured to interact with formulas and pricing logic in QuoteCloud.
Will extra columns affect price calculations and totals?
It depends on how each column is configured. Display-only informational columns will not change totals. Columns that are tied into pricing logic or formulas can affect calculations and totals if you enable those connections in the price table settings. Always review and test the price table formulas after adding pricing columns before sending live quotes.
How do I add or configure an additional column in a QuoteCloud price table?
Open the price table layout or settings editor, add a new column, choose the column type (informational or pricing), set the column label and formatting, and save your changes. Then update any templates or document generation settings so the new column appears in exported quotes and proposals. Finally, create a sample quote to confirm display and calculation behavior.
Can I include additional columns in templates and in generated documents?
Yes. Additional columns can be included in templates and exported documents such as PDFs. After adding a column, update your document generation mappings or template placeholders so the column is rendered in generated quotes and proposals. If you use QuoteCloud with document generation software or integrations, confirm the column appears as expected in exported files.
Are informational columns different from pricing columns in how they behave?
Yes. Informational columns are for display only and do not participate in calculations, while pricing columns can be connected to formulas, discounts, or cost fields and can therefore change line totals or overall quote totals. Choose the correct type when you add a column to avoid unintended pricing changes.
What are best practices for using additional columns in my quote and proposal templates?
Limit columns to what adds value to the client, label columns clearly, and order them for readability. Use consistent formatting for numbers and currencies, keep pricing logic centralized in formulas, and update templates after making layout changes. Regularly test sample quotes to ensure your quote software and proposal software output remains accurate and professional.
Troubleshooting: My new column is not appearing in exported documents — what should I check?
First confirm the column was saved and enabled in the price table settings. Next check your template or document generation mappings to ensure the new column placeholder is included. Verify visibility settings and any conditional logic that might hide the column, then run a sample export. If the column is a pricing field, also check that formulas and permissions allow it to be exported. Contact QuoteCloud support if the issue persists.
