FAQs
What does the "Adding Rows and Columns" feature in a Spreadsheet Block allow me to do?
The Adding Rows and Columns feature lets you expand an in-document spreadsheet inside QuoteCloud so you can insert new rows or columns where you need them. This helps you better structure, organise and present data directly inside your quotes and proposals without leaving the document editor.
It also supports importing .xlsx files so you can bring in existing spreadsheets instead of rebuilding them manually — a big time-saver for sales quoting software and sales proposal software workflows.
Why should I add rows or columns to a Spreadsheet Block?
Adding rows and columns makes it simple to manage larger or more complex datasets within a single document: add headers, subtotals, notes, extra line items, formulas or detailed pricing breakdowns. This improves clarity and usability of your QuoteCloud documents and makes your quote software or proposal software templates more flexible for real sales workflows.
How do I insert rows and columns inside a Spreadsheet Block?
Open the Spreadsheet Block in the QuoteCloud editor and use the block’s in-context controls to insert rows above or below a selected row and columns to the left or right of a selected column. The controls are contextual, so you can place new cells exactly where you need them without leaving the document editor.
Can I import an existing Excel (.xlsx) file into a Spreadsheet Block to avoid manual row/column creation?
Yes. QuoteCloud lets you import .xlsx files directly into a Spreadsheet Block so you can reuse existing product lists, pricing matrices or complex datasets instead of recreating them manually. Importing is especially useful when migrating large tables into your quote software or proposal software workflows.
Can I delete or adjust rows and columns after adding them?
Yes. After adding rows or columns you can delete, resize or otherwise adjust them inside the Spreadsheet Block. Changes update the in-document spreadsheet immediately, letting you refine layout, spacing and the presentation of pricing or formula results as you prepare your quote or proposal.
Will my formatting and formulas survive when I import an Excel file into a Spreadsheet Block?
Importing brings across cell data and the overall structure, which saves time compared with rebuilding tables manually. Basic formatting and common formulas normally import, but complex formatting, macros or very advanced Excel-only features may need manual adjustment after import — we recommend reviewing the sheet once it’s in the editor.
What are best practices for working with large datasets in a Spreadsheet Block?
For large datasets, import an .xlsx file rather than creating rows and columns manually. Use clear header rows, grouped subtotals and consistent column formatting to improve readability. If a table is extremely large, consider splitting it across multiple Spreadsheet Blocks or pages to keep documents fast and user-friendly in your quote software or proposal software.
Can Spreadsheet Block data be used directly in my quotes and proposals (pricing, totals, calculations)?
Yes. Spreadsheet Blocks are designed to live inside your documents, so tables, formulas and pricing details appear directly in quotes and proposals. That makes it easy to build interactive, accurate pricing tables and calculations within QuoteCloud — useful when you’re creating sales documents with quote software or sales proposal software functionality.
