Click the arrow beside the grouped task. The group expands to show the child tasks inside it.Review child tasks
Once the group is expanded, all child tasks within it are displayed. Task groups can also contain other groups, which can be expanded to reveal additional sub-tasks.Edit expanded tasks
When the group is expanded, you can see all task details. You can then review or edit the child tasks as needed.Collapse the group

FAQs
What is the "Expanding/Collapsing Task Groups or Phases" feature in QuoteCloud?
The Expanding/Collapsing Task Groups or Phases feature in QuoteCloud's Gantt Chart lets you show or hide the tasks inside a task group or project phase. Use it to switch between a high‑level timeline view and a detailed task view so you can manage complex schedules more clearly when creating quotes or proposals.
Where in QuoteCloud can I find the expand/collapse controls?
The expand and collapse controls are available inside QuoteCloud’s Document Editor when you switch to the Gantt Chart view. Open any document that contains a Gantt Chart and you’ll see a toggle control beside each task group or phase to expand or collapse it.
Which items can I expand or collapse in the Gantt Chart?
You can expand or collapse task groups and project phases in the Gantt Chart. Collapsing a group or phase hides its contained tasks and subtasks; expanding reveals the individual items so you can drill into detailed scheduling.
How do I expand or collapse a task group or phase (basic steps)?
Open the document in the Document Editor and switch to Gantt Chart view. Click the expand/collapse control next to the task group or phase you want to toggle. The control switches the group between expanded (showing tasks) and collapsed (hiding tasks).
Can I expand or collapse multiple groups at once (expand/collapse all)?
Controls are placed next to each task group or phase for per‑group toggling. Some Document Editor versions also include a global expand/collapse all option or keyboard shortcut; if your interface doesn’t show a global control, toggle groups individually or look for a toolbar option in the Gantt Chart view.
Why should I expand or collapse task groups or phases?
Expanding and collapsing groups helps you focus on the level of detail you need, simplifies navigation of long timelines, and makes it easier to review high‑level milestones or drill into specific tasks. This is especially useful when preparing documents in sales quoting software or sales proposal software where clear timelines improve client communication and shorten approval cycles.
Will my expand/collapse choices be saved with the document?
The Gantt Chart preserves the current view while you’re editing. To keep a particular expanded or collapsed layout for future reference, save the document before closing. If you’re unsure whether the view is stored, save the document and confirm by reopening it.
How does collapsing or expanding groups affect exports and printed proposals?
Collapsing hides subtasks from the on‑screen Gantt view, which can make exported or printed timelines cleaner and easier to read. Export and print behavior may depend on the export settings or template you use, so check the export preview or print settings to ensure the output matches the level of detail you want in your quote software or proposal software documents.
