FAQs
How do I import contacts from a CSV into QuoteCloud?
To import contacts, open Contacts from the left sidebar, click the dropdown beside Add Contact and choose Import from CSV. Upload or drag-and-drop your CSV file, click Parse CSV, map each CSV column to the corresponding QuoteCloud contact field, then validate rows and finally click Import Valid Rows to add the contacts to your account.
What CSV file format and columns should I use?
QuoteCloud accepts a standard CSV file with one contact per row. Common columns include name, email, phone, company, and address. During the Parse CSV step you will map your file's columns to QuoteCloud contact fields so column names can be different as long as they are mapped correctly.
How do I map CSV columns to QuoteCloud contact fields?
After parsing the CSV, review the automatic mappings and select the appropriate QuoteCloud field for each column. You can adjust mappings or set default values for fields that are missing in the file. Accurate mapping ensures your data imports into the correct contact fields used by QuoteCloud and any connected sales quoting software or proposal software workflows.
What happens during the Validate Rows step and how do I fix errors?
Step 3, Validate Rows, checks your parsed data for formatting issues, missing required fields, and other import errors. If validation flags rows, download or review the error report, correct the CSV or adjust mappings/default values, then re-parse and validate until all rows are clean.
How does QuoteCloud handle duplicates and partial matches?
Before importing, use the Validate Rows step to review potential duplicates or partial matches. Best practice is to clean duplicates in your CSV or merge records beforehand. If duplicates remain, you can choose which validated rows to import. For large teams using QuoteCloud as their sales quoting software, removing duplicates before import keeps contact lists clean and avoids confusion in quotes and proposals.
Can I import custom contact fields from a CSV?
Yes. If your account has custom contact fields set up in QuoteCloud, you can map CSV columns to those custom fields during the mapping step. If a custom field does not yet exist, create it in QuoteCloud before importing so it appears in the mapping options.
Any tips for a smooth CSV import for sales teams using QuoteCloud?
Prepare your CSV by standardizing column headers, removing duplicates, and ensuring required fields like email are present. Use the Parse CSV and Map Fields steps carefully, validate rows to catch issues early, and only import validated rows. This preparation keeps your contact database ready for use with QuoteCloud’s quote software and proposal software features, speeding up quote and proposal creation.
